Pepper Reflection

I love food, almost as much as I love photography. So it's always a natural combination to take pictures of the delicious things I encounter. This beautiful little pepper had such a cool stem it was just crying out to be a still life subject!

Figs Still Life

More Fig experimentation. As I was researching figs I found some interesting facts. The fruit of the fig is actually an intersting structure. Each fig is anctualy the result of a whole group of flowers (a botanical structure called an inflorescence). The fig inflorescence is a bit strange in the fact that all of the flowers point inward and you never see the flowers on the outside. This particular structure is called a syconium. Nature is very strange, interesting and beautiful!

Figs and Honey

I love good food as much as photography, that's why some of my favorite clients are local restaurants. This is a first experiment for a new restaurant in Santa Barbara that will be opening soon. Unfortunately it's not really fig season, so it took a little looking but I finally found some nice ones. I took a lot of images this evening before the lights got to be too much (sometime I need a studio with a real air conditioner :) so far this is one of my favorites, but it was a hard choice. More to come!

Garlic Reflections

In addition to my local Santa Barbara images site I am in the process of doing some self promotion work for my commercial food & restaurant photography. I've always loved photography and I REALLY love food, so I guess it was only a matter of time 'til I made the connection!

Ohhh I just LOVE Garlic!!

Still Life in the Bakery

From the same little bakery as yesterday's Photo Du Jour. This was a nice little arrangement on the patio. At least we had somethin' to do while we waited for our food! :-D
