Alice Keck After Dark
Looking out across the duck pond at Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens standing in the Gazebo. This is a quite long exposure after dark wandering the park. There were still people enjoying the park with their dogs even at this time of day. It was a really beautiful evening!

Evening At Alice's Garden 360 degree Panorama
At the end of a wonderful evening of photography, I found myself driving by Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens.
The look of the glowing lights with the remaing glow of the sunset were enough to make me circle
the block to think about what kind of a view I could get. I was glad I stopped. This is from about
20 feet above the edge of the duckpond, looking down on the pond and the gazebo.

Lotus Blossoms
Ahh it's a beautiful flower. Makes me wish I had enough room for a Koi pond. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep visiting the ponds at Lotusland and Seaside gardens.

Lotus & Lily Pads
Seems like a fitting image. As I upload this it is
raining like crazy.
I love the way the water
beads on the lily pads, and the ruffled edges
of the pads themselves.

Lotus Pads
Lily pads from yesterday's Lotus blossom. I particularly like the little rings of ripples at the top of the image.

Purple, Blue & Yellow Water Lily
The Santa Barbara Cemetery recently
planted new lilies in it's fountain.
They are beautiful!
This flower has a lot of names including
Blue Lotus, Egyptian Lotus and most impressive...
"Sacred Narcotic Lily of the Nile"

Birthday Turtle
I took the day off today and wandered around taking pictures.
This was my wife's pick, she really likes turtles.
We watched this guy slip off of the lily pad slowly and
then climb back up.

Mission Lily
There are a million photos of the Mission Santa Barbara out there. Which is all the more reason to look around while you are there to see if there might be something you would miss with the standard "Visitors Bureau" shot.

Floating Pads
The thing I like the most about this picture is the refraction happening at the edge of the lily pads where they touch the water. the surface tension of the extremely still water is grabbing the bottom edge of the pads. Which is causing the surface of the water to bend. This creates a refraction, like light going through a lens, giving you the bright edges around the shadows in the bottom of the fountain.

Mission Lily
One of the things I like most about this photo is the small ring of ripples to the left of the flower.
